Fahamilah Islam , setidaknya seperti Abu Lahab

Mukanya merah padam.
Bola matanya tidak bisa diam.
Bahasa tubuhnya penuh gejolak.
Hatta sementara mengunyah, tangannya menggeletar.

“Why bro?”
Saya memancing.

“No, nothingla”. Balasnya sambil melihat ke sudut lain.

“Aku dengar semalam kau ada pegi mahkamah syariah, apa cerita?”kembali aku bertanya.

“Where you heard about it?” Tanyanya. Belum sempat saya menjawab dia meneruskan bicaranya. “Actually i went to Mahkamah Syariah and pejabat agama, to ask about the procedure of embracing Islam. Then i went back to my house, then something happened that make me feel like thinking twice before embracing the religion.”

Nada amarah masih ada.

“i balik rumah and baring dekat ruang tamu, when suddenly a group of men, wearing songkok, baju melayu, knocked the door, asking me to leave the house.”

[This chinese friend of mine has been living with a malay girl in the same house, of course without nikah, for the past few months.]

“They shouted many bad words at me, “cina babi-cibai ” , setan and some others. One of them even say to my girl “suck my cockla “, luah beliau sambil mengetap bibir. “So now, i’m thinking twice to convert into Islam, afraid i might ended up just like this bunch of muslim.”

[Kawan saya ni memang dah 2-3 menjak ada menyuarakan hasrat nak memeluk Islam, we even had some conversation about the fundamental things in Islam.]

“I’m not going to blame the men for forcing you to leave the house, as it is an obligation for them to do so, but on the other hand, i do agree, the way they did it is totally out from what Islam teaches us.”

“But, i really agree that you have to think twice before choosing to become a muslim.”

“First of all, it is not wise to choose or not to choose Islam just based on what you see in a muslim, whether good or bad. You have to know about the consequences, the obligation on you by becoming a muslim. You don’t choose Islam just because you want to marry a muslim girl. So many bad peoples out there carrying the name of Islam, and personally i don’ t think we want more of that kind of people in the muslim community. ”

“So, do think twice! Being a muslim is not just filling out some forms, and then, that’s it. You have to do the obligations that comes in a package with your rights.” Ujar saya menutup perbualan singkat tersebut.

Saya fikir, hal yang sama patut direnungkan oleh kita, yang lahir dengan cop muslim di dahi. I can’t count how many birth certificate i have signed, our religion has been decided before we can think, and sometimes we don’t even bother what the must and don’ts in being a muslim.

“Kekurangajaran” ( i dont know the proper word for this) Abu Lahab bukanlah petanda beliau bodoh, justeru kerana kefahaman yang menyeluruh tentang isi kalimah Allah yang membuatkan Abu Lahab bereaksi demikian. Dia sedar betul, Islam bukan sekadar agama melainkan sebuah cara hidup.

Dan Abu Lahab tidak bersedia untuk itu. Dia memahaminya bukan dengan berpuluh kali belajar al qur’an, bukan bertahun tahun mengaji agama, tapi cukup dengan hanya satu fakta yang dilontarkan oleh Nabi s.a.w pada waktu itu.

Jadi, marilah kita sama sama  muhasabah sejauh mana kita faham tentang kewajiban dan hak dalam menjadi seorang muslim.

Setidaknya sepertimana yang difahami oleh Abu Lahab.
